Psychology 496: Teaching Practicum

Overview

The aim of the teaching practicum is to provide you with experience in teaching a psychology course. You will learn how to effectively communicate information to a wide variety of people, understand the bare-bones of managing a class, and gain a deeper understanding of the course material—the best way to learn is by teaching someone else!

Several faculty teach sections of the teaching practicum. In my section, you will assist with Psy 321. The main duties involve leading laboratory groups. Additionally, you are expected to read the course material, attend weekly meetings, evaluate assignments, and assist in general operation, maintenance, and evaluation of the course.

Minimum Requirements

Be aware that being a teaching apprentice is a serious duty. You must be a responsible person. You are expected to attend all of your assigned sections and meetings and be prepared by reading all necessary material. Be sure you will be able to meet the demands of this position!
